Hypixel is one of the largest Minecraft networks in the world and the most searched server name on the web. Many players only need one thing, the address. Here it is, with the steps to connect and fixes for the most common problems.
Hypixel IP address
The address is:
mc.hypixel.net
You do not need to enter a port. Hypixel uses the Java default port 25565, and Minecraft adds it for you. The same address works for all game modes. Hypixel is a Java Edition server, so Bedrock players on phones and consoles cannot join it directly.
Which version should I use
Hypixel accepts Java clients from 1.8 up to recent releases. For the best experience, use a current version of Java Edition unless you play a mode that depends on old combat, such as classic PvP minigames, where many players still choose 1.8. If your version is too old or too new, the server list shows a message and tells you what to change.
How to join step by step
1. Start the Minecraft Launcher with a valid Java Edition account.
2. Click Multiplayer in the main menu.
3. Click Add Server.
4. Write Hypixel as the name and paste mc.hypixel.net as the address.
5. Save, select the server and click Join Server.
You arrive in the main lobby. Walk to the game portals or use the compass or menu item to pick a game.
What you can play
Hypixel is a network of many games rather than one world. Popular choices include Bed Wars, SkyWars, Murder Mystery, Build Battle and SkyBlock, a long-term progression mode that has its own large community. If you cannot connect
- Check the address. There must be no spaces, and it must be written exactly as mc.hypixel.net.
- Check your edition. Hypixel does not support Bedrock Edition.
- Check your version. Switch to a supported Java version in the launcher.
- Verify your account. The server requires a legitimate Minecraft account.
- Try again later. During maintenance or a large update, the server may be unavailable for some time. The status on the Hypixel page shows the last check.
- Restart the game. A stuck connection sometimes clears after relaunching the client.
- Check your network. Some school or work networks block game traffic. A mobile hotspot is a quick test.
Staying safe
Only use the official address. Imitation sites sometimes advertise a fake Hypixel with a similar name. If a page asks for your account password or offers free ranks in exchange for your login, close it. Staff never ask for your password.
Hypixel and other large networks
